Face It. You Can't Do This...or Can You?

I'm feeling a bit bitchy this morning, which I rarely ever do. It all started when I received an email from a girl I've been coaching.. She is in her mid-thirties, about 30 pounds overweight and very out of shape. Wants to look and feel better and be able to wear a bathing suit again without feeling like Jabba the Hut. Sound familiar? Yeah, there are a lot of us out there...

Well, it has been about a month. She "said" she was following all the advice I gave her, eating clean, not missing work-outs, etc. etc. But the weight was not falling off in heaps, she still couldn't go bikini shopping and the muscles were not popping thru the skin. I mean come on, it had been a month already!! (insert eyeroll here).

So, today I get an email from her saying she was done. It was not working for her at all. "Nothing I do works. I can't do this," was how she finished the note.

Well you know what, she's right. Who is she kidding? She can't do this. And maybe neither can you.

If you...

Can't stand to give up soda, beer, chips, sugar, white bread, junk food and candy;

Can't stand to work hard enough to get your heart racing and feel a bit scared;

Can't work through the burn and the pain as you injure your muscles and convince them to grow back even bigger and stronger;

Can't pack yourself a healthy lunch to take to work each day;

Can't be bothered to shake up some protein and swallow some supplements a couple times a day;

Can't drive by the Carl's Jr. because a six-dollar burger is calling your name;

Can't take the time to plan healthy meals and shop intelligently at the grocery store;

Can't stomach feeling queasy after a killer leg work-out;

Can't deal with sore muscles and minor aches and pains;

Can't deal with losing only about a pound a week and sometimes none at all;

Can't deal with setbacks, injuries, plateaus and having to dig deep to find the motivation to work out when you just want to eat potato chips and watch the tube;

Can't deal with having to constantly mix things up to confuse your muscles and metabolism;

Can't convince yourself that working this hard is worth it...

Then maybe you CAN'T do this.

However, if you CAN deal with these things, there is one last thing you need to ask yourself:

Can you deal with having the gift of health, feeling and looking fabulous and having more self-esteem and self-confidence than you have ever had in your life? Can you deal with being in the best shape of your life and people telling you you're hot?

Because that is what you will get if you have what it takes to say "I can" instead of "I can't"

Nuff said. Now just go do it. I don't wanna hear anymore I can'ts! No one said this was gonna be easy!
